Highcliffe Castle Wedding Videographer
Hi! I’m Roddy, a wedding filmmaker based in the South of England, I have to say Highcliffe Castle is one of the best wedding venues I've ever filmed at. With its historic architecture, and beautiful coastal setting, it’s easily one of Dorset’s most impressive wedding venues.
What makes it so special for me as a videographer is the variety – from grand interiors to lush gardens and even the beach just a short stroll away. It gives couples such a mix of backdrops for both their ceremony and their film.
On the day he was so nice and friendly, he made us laugh and alongside our photographers it was just a really nice atmosphere all together (again very important because you spend quite a bit of time away from your guests getting photos and videos done so you want it to be fun!)
The video he made is so lovely, and on the day he was so discreet with his filming especially during the ceremony. Overall I haven’t got a single negative to say - he is great :)

Why I love filming at Highcliffe Castle
As a Dorset wedding videographer, Highcliffe Castle is a dream venue. It’s historic, romantic, and versatile, and it feels like the day unfolds naturally here. The ceremony room and the dining hall are both stunning, light, airy, and you can feel the history of the Castle -
Highcliffe Castle was built in the 1830s by Lord Stuart de Rothesay, using reclaimed stone, glass, and wood from French medieval monasteries and castles. Over the years, it welcomed royalty and notable figures, before falling into disrepair after fires in the 1960s. Thankfully, restoration in the 1990s brought it back to life, and today it stands as a stunning Grade I listed heritage building and one of Dorset’s most romantic wedding venues.
Real Weddings at Highcliffe Castle
Gabrielle & Joshua’s wedding was a beautiful example of a relaxed, intimate celebration. After their ceremony, they took a few quiet moments together on the beach nearby, which made for some truly magical and natural footage. Their day was full of laughter, love, and those unscripted moments that make wedding films so special.
It was truly a joy to film and edit this wedding film, and this venue makes my job so easy - everywhere you look is beautiful, and there's endless opportunities for candid, natural videography.
Ceremony Spaces at Highcliffe Castle
Highcliffe Castle offers a choice of stunning ceremony locations, both indoors and outdoors. The Wintergarden Room is light and airy, with huge windows overlooking the grounds, while the Great Hall brings a sense of drama with its high ceilings and historic details.
For couples wanting something a little different, outdoor ceremonies on the lawn are just as magical, framed by the castle itself and views towards the coast.
Final Thoughts
If you’re considering getting married at Highcliffe Castle, I can honestly say you won’t regret it. It’s one of those rare venues that feels both timeless and personal.
