Lewes Register Office & Grange Gardens Wedding Videographer

Hi! I'm Roddy, and having filmed multiple weddings at Lewes Register Office and Grange Gardens, I can honestly say it’s one of my favourite spots in East Sussex for a wedding. The gorgeous Grade II listed manor, combined with the beautifully kept gardens, makes my job as a filmmaker pretty easy. And after the ceremony, the gardens are the perfect place to chill out with your family, pop some champagne, and just enjoy the moment together.

Why I love filming at Lewes Register Office & Grange Garden

This place has actually been part of my life long before I ever picked up a camera. I grew up in Lewes, went to school across the road at Western Road, and spent countless afternoons hanging out in Grange Gardens as a kid. It’s always been a peaceful, special spot for me. I still remember one afternoon when a mate of mine (definitely not me!) pushed another friend into the river. He popped up the other side of the bridge, coughing and spluttering, with a very dead phone in his pocket. Good times.

So filming weddings here feels extra personal. It’s not just another venue – it’s part of me.

Real Weddings at Lewes Register Office

One of the things I love about being a Lewes wedding videographer is how different each wedding feels, even in the same space.

Rebecca and Jay’s wedding was a really lovely elopement – just the two of them. It was so relaxed and easy-going, and it really showed how meaningful and beautiful a simple ceremony can be.

Sarah and Alex’s wedding so different – full of family, fun, and laughter. After their ceremony at Lewes Register Office, everyone spilled into the gardens for drinks and hugs before heading off to the Anchor Inn in Barcombe. They even went out on the boats, which I'm sure was a nice break from everyone and moment to reflect together. Honestly, they were such a lovely couple, and it was a joy to capture their day.

'Roddy was the best choice we could have made to capture beautiful videography footage of our wedding day.

He was super cool, competent and chill, blending in like one of our guests, we felt like it was a friend behind the camera, which meant he was able to subtly encapsulate so many precious and hilarious moments of our day that we didn’t even know had happened.

He skilfully caught the personalities of all our friends and family on camera so we have a wealth of emotion to look back on.'

Ceremony Rooms at Lewes Register Office

Lewes Register Office has a few different rooms depending on how big your wedding is:

  • Winterbourne Suite – capacity 15. Cosy, blue and silver, with a small garden view. Upstairs, but no lift access.

  • Evelyn Room – capacity 20. Light, airy, on the ground floor, with sofas and a window seat.

  • Ainsworth Room – capacity 60. Grand, with chandeliers, a central aisle, and big garden views.

  • Newton Room – capacity 60. Warm and traditional, with a fireplace and red and gold seating.

It’s also super practical – Lewes Station is just a 10-minute walk away, and the town centre is only a few minutes further. Easy for guests to get in, and easy to head off to your reception afterward.

Why I Love Filming Weddings in Lewes

Lewes itself is such a lovely town. Quirky, historic, and full of charm. The Register Office and Grange Gardens make such a good option if you’re looking for an East Sussex wedding venue that’s both beautiful and convenient.

Alas, I’ve always loved this place, and it really is a privilege to film such amazing weddings here.

Anyway, that’s enough about me – I hope this has helped if you’re thinking of getting married at Lewes Register Office and Southover Grange Gardens.
